Perfecting the Kettlebell Clean

The kettlebell clean is a fundamental kettlebell movement that requires you to lift the kettlebell from the floor in a fluid motion and position it at chest level in a racked position.

The clean forms an integral part of many complex kettlebell workouts where you are required to lift the kettlebell from the ground into a certain position. From the racked position, you can go on to perform lunges, squats, press, jerk and several other workouts.

It is therefore imperative that you master the right technique of doing the clean and include it in your regular kettlebell courses Tawain.

Benefits of doing the Kettlebell Clean

The kettlebell clean is a wonderfully simple total-body workout that nevertheless provides several benefits. Like all other kettlebell workouts, the clean too activates most of the major and minor muscles of your body in one single exercise. By doing several reps, you can get a really good cardio workout.

Being a total body workout, the clean is just perfect for uniform fat loss and tones your body throughout. Since the prime force behind the clean comes from the forceful thrust of your hips, you can develop really strong hip muscles and joints which is so important to prevent injuries during your daily activities.

Finally, the kettlebell clean is a fun workout as it has several variations. Apart from the basic lift, you can do the dead clean, swing clean, bottoms-up clean and the single leg clean and so on.

With the kettlebell clean being an integral part of your Tawain kettlebell courses, your sessions will be more interesting and challenging as you try out the different variations.

How to do the Kettlebell Clean Correctly

To begin, place the kettlebell on the floor between the legs. Do a hip hinge and grab the kettlebell in one hand. Keep the head straight and keep the eyes looking forward.

Now bend your knees slightly and push the kettlebell a little backward between your legs. Then with a forceful thrust of the hips, push the kettlebell forward and clean it up to your shoulder level.

Rotate your wrist once you reach the topmost position. Reverse wrist and return to the initial position.

A Few Important Guidelines for Perfecting the Kettlebell Clean

If you are practising the clean for the first time in your kettlebell certification Tawain, it is best to learn the technique backward. Begin in a standing position, grip the kettlebell in both hands and curl the tool at your chest level. Remove the non-working hand, keep elbows tucked against your side and maintain a vertical forearm with a slight angle across the chest.

Keep your thumb pointing backwards towards you and keep your wrists straight throughout the movement. Keep your glutes, legs, abs and the lateral side of your working arm in a tense position for maximum force.

From the rack position, lower the kettlebell by doing the hip hinge and moving the kettlebell in a backward arc between your legs. Now let the kettlebell rest on the floor and maintain the hip hinge position with the arm pressed against the thing on the same side of your body. While dropping the kettlebell on the floor, be sure to maintain an absolutely straight arm. Want to learn online? Check out our online courses.
