A Guide to Buying KettlebellsIf you want a 24×7 gym at your own convenient time and place, you should definitely buy a pair of kettlebells today. This unique workout equipment has gained worldwide popularity for its expediency and effectiveness as a fitness tool. However, kettlebells come in various sizes, brands, weights and sizes. So before you begin your enrol in your Saudi Arabia kettlebell certification, you should definitely know how to select the right one.

Buying your First Kettlebell

Buying a kettlebell is a hefty investment although the price varies widely depending on the weight, construction and brand. The costliest kettlebell may not always be best for beginners as you will want to try out some kettlebell workouts first before moving on to costlier brands and more complex workouts.

That said, quality does matter since this you would not want the equipment to break apart when you are blazing through your reps.

You are Spoilt for Choice

Buying your first kettlebell can be an overwhelming experience as the market is flooded with products of all shapes, sizes and material. Kettlebells can be made with cast iron, vinyl or steel and come coated in different colours. There are other differences too such as the width of the handle may vary.

Traditionally, kettlebells are made of cast iron which makes them heavy and more difficult to move. The size of the equipment increases with the weight in standard kettlebells.

Kettlebells for Competition

The difference between competition kettlebells and standard kettlebells is that the former has uniform dimension irrespective of weight. This means, whatever be the weight of the kettlebell, all competitive kettlebells will have same shape, size, handle width and base. These are usually colour-coated accordingly to weight.

In traditional kettlebells however, the size varies according to weight i.e. heavier kettlebells are also larger in size with larger handles, base and shape.

Selecting the Right Weight for Your Saudi Arabia kettlebell course

It is safest to start with the lightest permissible weight if you have never done kettlebell workouts before.

If you are a normally healthy female with natural strength, you can safely begin with a kettlebell weight 8kg. Men with similar health and normal fitness can start with kettlebell weighing 16kg.

However do remember that kettlebell workouts involve all the muscles of your body insof just isolated muscles as happens when working with dumbbells. This means a heavy kettlebell will not actually feel that heavy when you move it with the strength of your entire body. Keep this in mind while selecting your first kettlebell and you can opt for a slightly heavier weight than mentioned above if you are comfortable with it.

Checkout the Handle

The handle or the ‘horn’ of the kettlebell is a vital component as you maneouver the equipment any way you want by gripping on to it. You would want the kettlebell you will use to have a comfortable grip and not be too wide or too narrow. A good quality handle should be smooth but not so glossy that it slips out of your hand. There should be enough space between the handle and the bell to allow you to curl your fingers around the horn.
